Strong winds were being felt in several areas of Riverside County Sunday, with more of the same expected Monday and overnight into Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning effective from 6 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Tuesday in the downtown Riverside, Moreno Valley, Corona, Hemet and Temecula areas.

North winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected with gusts reaching up to 55 mph.

“Travel will be hazardous, especially for high profile vehicles on east-west highways and interchanges,” the NWS said.

Local gusts up to 65 mph could be possible in the Cajon Pass area.

The NWS advised the public to use caution when driving in the areas under warning.

A wind advisory was also issued in the mountains from 8 a.m. Monday to 2 p.m. Tuesday, with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
