The annual Palm Springs Pride parade and festival will continue later this year despite a $325,000 deficit, the Greater Palm Springs Pride organization announced Friday.

“The long struggle for LGBTQ+ rights is knocking at our door again,” President of PS Pride Ron deHarte said.

The organization said the decrease of sponsorships was possibly caused by the political climate, and advised attendees to expect adjustments in the festival’s format. However, organizers said they will make it a priority to create a safe and welcoming environment.

Pride officials expect to attract more than 200,000 people and generate about $35 million for the city.

An “Equality Walk” fundraiser will be held at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 25 in the Arenas District to keep the festival free and accessible to attend.

The four-day pride celebration will run Nov. 6-9.

The main parade will start at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 in the area of Tachevah and Palm Canyon drives.

“We’re doubling down on what makes Palm Springs Pride so special,” deHarte said. “We’re a friendly, welcoming and diverse city. Our pride is celebratory and political, and we will not be quiet. The community will not shy way from addressing today’s social justice challenges.”
