Young ball players and coaches in Pasadena were reeling Monday after a burglar broke into a Pasadena Southwest Little League shed in Allendale Park and stole tools worth thousands of dollars.

“To the person who did this: You didn’t just steal equipment, you stole from a community of children who show up every day with heart, hustle, and hope,” according to a Facebook post by league officials.

Police told reporters the theft was reported Saturday and a search for the man suspected of stealing equipment was underway. A security camera caught images of the man breaking into the league’s snack shed. Photos and video were included with the league’s Facebook post.

The video shows a man inspecting the inside of the shed and scouting equipment. Some media reports valued the stolen items at about $5,000.

It was unclear exactly what was taken, although the league contended the thief made off with baseball gear and supplies.

As of Monday, no arrests have been made and the league continued to urge members of the community to help spread the word and contact Pasadena police with any information.
