The Los Angeles Rams Tuesday waived cornerback Troy Hill, three days after his arrest on suspicion of driving drunk.
Coach Jeff Fisher said on Monday he was “still in the process of trying to gather more facts from law enforcement” about Hill’s DUI arrest and had a copy of the police report.
Fisher said he spoke briefly with Hill, 25, on Monday.
“I’m very, very disappointed in him, disappointed in his choices, but waiting to get the results from law enforcement before I make a decision,” Fisher said at California Lutheran University, where the team practices.
Hill was deactivated for Sunday’s 14-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Hill was acquired by the Rams on waivers from New England on Dec. 31, but did not play three days later in the team’s 2015 season finale. Hill played in all nine of the Rams’ 2016 games before Sunday, with four starts. His 37 tackles were sixth on the team entering Sunday’s game.
Hill was arrested Saturday morning after his white Mercedes-Benz C350 crashed into the rear of a big rig on the Ventura (101) Freeway, west of Haskell Avenue, in Encino at 7:52 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hill was in the fast lane, traveling at 60 mph, when he swerved to the far-right lane and the Mercedes struck the rear of the big rig that was traveling at 50 mph, the CHP reported.
Hill identified himself to officers at the scene as a Rams player, according to the CHP.
The investigating officer determined that Hill exhibited signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication and arrested him after a series of field sobriety tests, the CHP reporterd. He was tested again at the Van Nuys jail and booked on suspicion of DUI.
Hill was released at 1:35 p.m. Saturday on $15,000 bail and ordered to appear in a Van Nuys courtroom on Dec. 14, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
