The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Wednesday for the third consecutive day following a run of 11 increases in 12 days totaling 7.7 cents, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.808.
The average price has dropped 1.7 cents over the past three days, including 1 cent Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.6 cents less than one week ago, 2.8 cents lower than one month ago and 34.2 cents below what it was one year ago.
The average price has dropped $1.685 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the sixth consecutive day, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.731. It has dropped 3.7 cents over the past six days, including seven-tenths of a cent Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 3.1 cents less than one week ago, 4.4 cents lower than one month ago and 33.1 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.727 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price rose a half-cent to $3.182 after three decreases in four days totaling 1.5 cents, including two-tenths of a cent Tuesday. It is two-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 2.9 cents higher than one month ago but 41.5 cents less than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.834 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“While we’re forecasting the lowest summer gas prices in years, economic jitters are slightly dampening optimism — but we still expect a robust travel season, with millions of Americans hitting the road, many for extended trips,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
