The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped two-tenths of a cent Sunday to $3.308, one day after dropping 1 cent.
The average price is 1.4 cents more than one week ago, 25.2 cents lower than one month ago, and 25.8 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price has risen 22.7 cents since the start of the year.
A 55-day streak of decreases totaling 51.5 cents ended with a 3.3-cent increase Wednesday, the largest since Nov. 4, 2017.
“A couple of local refinery incidents, along with reports of gas supply shortages in nearby states that could affect California supplies, caused wholesale and futures prices to spike sharply beginning last Thursday,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“However, both wholesale and futures prices have dropped in the last three days, so we don’t expect pump prices to rise much further heading into the end of the year.”
