The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped three-tenths of a cent Thursday to $3.232, one day after being unchanged.

The average price is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 4.5 cents higher than one month ago but 13.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

“We are hearing from oil industry analysts that the California rainstorms have depressed gasoline demand and that once the Chevron El Segundo refinery came back online fairly quickly after its power outage caused by lightning, supply concerns seem to have been eliminated,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.

“Unfortunately at the moment that has not translated into much of a price drop because refineries are already producing the summer blend of gasoline, which is more expensive, but at least pump prices are not still rising as they were last week.”
