A wildfire erupted Thursday in the immediate vicinity of homes on the east end of Menifee, scorching more than 10 acres and prompting street closures.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the area of Pacific Bluff and Brentworth streets, on the east side of Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a rapid rate across open terrain situated between residential subdivisions.

Two Cal Fire air tankers were immediately summoned.

Evacuation orders appeared imminent, as sheriff’s deputies shut down several streets in the vicinity of the brush fire.

There was no immediate word on what might have triggered it.
