A relatively small but long period south swell will bring a high rip current risk to south facing beaches of Los Angeles and Orange County through Sunday.

The National Weather Service office in Oxnard warned beachgoers to keep a close eye on kids and pets and always swim near a lifeguard. Zuma Beach and Seal Beach will be particularly affected.

Swimmers caught in a rip current should try to swim parallel to shore to get out the current, then try to get the attention of a lifeguard by waving arms and yelling for help.

The forecast for central Los Angeles on Saturday calls for mostly sunny conditions with highs from the lower to mid 70s at the beaches to the mid to upper 80s inland. Lows overnight will be in the mid 60s.

Meanwhile, interior areas of Los Angeles County continue to face elevated fire danger due to a combination of warm and dry conditions with breezy onshore winds.
