The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Monday for the 17th consecutive day, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $2.858.

The average price has risen 39.9 cents over the past 17 days, including 1.8 cents on Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 17.4 cents more than one week ago and 30.3 cents higher than one month ago, but 92.1 cents less than one year ago thanks to 24 decreases in the 25 days immediately before the current string of increases began. The 17-day streak of increases is the longest since one lasting 21 days from Feb. 18 to March 10 last year.

The Orange County average price also rose for the 17th consecutive day, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $2.848.

The Orange County average price has risen 41.6 cents over the past 17 days, including 1.9 cents on Sunday. It is 17.9 cents higher than one week ago and 31.9 cents more than one month ago. However, it is 92.8 cents lower than one year ago thanks to 23 decreases in 24 days immediately before the current string of increases began.

The 17-day streak of increases is the longest since an 18-day streak from March 31-April 17 last year.
