A 2-year-old colt that had yet to compete in a race died after suffering a training injury at Los Alamitos Race Course, state horse racing officials reported.

Americas Favorite died Wednesday, according to the California Horse Racing Board. No further information was available about his death, which was listed as “musculoskeletal” on the CHRB’s website.

His most recent official workout was conducted Wednesday on the dirt course at the Cypress track.

Americas Favorite is the sixth horse to die from a racing or training injury at Los Alamitos this year. Los Alamitos saw 13 horses die from racing or training injuries in 2023.
