A brush fire erupted Friday near a Metrolink train station in Jurupa Valley, quickly burning two acres and prompting the closure of a road.
The non-injury “Pedley Fire” was reported at 3:28 p.m. Friday in the area of Pedley Road and 60th Street, in a field just east of the Jurupa Valley Metrolink Station, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate in the immediate vicinity of numerous homes.
Firefighters deployed for structure protection, and a Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter and air tanker were summoned to make drops on the brusher.
The Metrolink commuter tracks remained open. However, sheriff’s deputies shut down Pedley, between Limonite Avenue and 58th Street, for public safety.
No evacuation orders appeared imminent.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
