A man was in custody for allegedly hitting a sheriff’s deputy on the head Wednesday at Union Station, authorities said.
The deputy was taken to a hospital following the 11 a.m. attack at the Metro Red Line Station at the location near downtown Los Angeles, but his condition was unknown, said Ramon Montenegro of the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau.
The deputy was responding to a report of a suspicious person on a Red Line train when the suspect — whose name was not immediately released — hit him on the head with an unknown object, Montenegro said.
It was not immediately known if the suspect was the same person whose behavior generated the original call, Montenegro said.
