A condominium fire in Long Beach severely damaged two units and injured one firefighter, fire officials said Thursday.
The blaze was reported at 3:36 a.m. at the three-story building at 5479 Centralia Street, said Jake Heflin, a public information officer for the Long Beach Fire Department.
The fire began at a second story unit and spread to another one floor above, Heflin said.
A dog in the unit where the flames originated was killed, he said.
Most of the flames were knocked down by 4:03 a.m., but firefighters continued carrying out some suppression efforts, Heflin said.
None of the occupants were injured, but a firefighter suffered burns to his face and chin and was hospitalized.
Four additional units suffered water damage, Heflin said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
