Police officers and county firefighters opened their wallets to replace Christmas gifts that were inside a vehicle stolen at a Covina home, a police sergeant said Thursday.
Covina police officers responded at 6:25 a.m. the day before Christmas to a call of a stolen vehicle at a residence in the 400 block of West Front Street. There, a vehicle belonging to a family of six was stolen from the home.
Inside it were the Christmas gifts for the family, including children 7 weeks, 4, 8 and 10 years of age, said Covina police Sgt. Greg Peterson.
Upon hearing the children’s gifts were stolen, Covina police officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 154 firefighters were able to replace the family’s stolen gifts and toys, Peterson said.
“The gifts and toys were delivered to the victim family by midnight on Christmas Eve to ensure the children had gifts under the tree and the family could enjoy their holiday,” the police sergeant said. “The family vehicle still has not been located.”
Covina police detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the stolen vehicle to call them at (626) 384-5628.
