Authorities investigated the slaying of a 19- year-old man in a car-to-car shooting in Hawthorne.
The victim was in the passenger seat of a Ford SUV stopped at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Cimarron Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Schrader said an occupant of a green-colored vehicle drove up alongside the SUV and fired into it, striking the victim. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, she said.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were dispatched to assist Gardena Police in the investigation, Schrader said, adding Gardena Police patrols a small section of Hawthorne.
The fatal shooting was the second in Hawthorne in five days. Delray Yarbrough, 38, of Hawthorne, was shot and killed Sunday in the 11900 block of York Avenue.
