A 43-year-old teacher at a Castaic elementary school was arrested Thursday on suspicion inappropriately touching students.

Joshua Levine, a teacher at Castaic Elementary School, 30455 Park Vista Drive, had been the subject of an investigation since April 16 by the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau.

During an investigation into “allegations involving the inappropriate touching of students by their teacher while inside a classroom at Castaic Elementary School,” detectives interviewed several students and employees at the school, according to the sheriff’s department.

Levine was booked at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station, with bail set at $80,000, officials said.

“Due to the suspect’s employment as a school teacher, detectives believe there may be additional children who may have been victimized by the suspect,” Deputy Ryan Rouzan of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
