Authorities on Thursday circulated photos of two women taken by a photographer just before their male companions tried to steal his camera at gunpoint.
The encounter occurred about 8:45 p.m. April 15, as the victim was at a dirt lot near the 300 block of Saint Katherine Drive to take photographs, according to the sheriff’s department.
A car pulled into the same lot and six people got out of the sedan, including the women, who approached the photographer and asked to have their pictures taken, sheriff’s officials said.
When the victim returned to his vehicle, two men attacked him.
“Both suspects punched the victim and attempted to take (his) camera. One of the suspects also struck the victim with a revolver,” according to a sheriff’s statement.
The photographer ran back to his vehicle and drove off, and the suspects followed him for awhile but then gave up. His name was withheld.
The men were both described as Hispanic, about 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, wearing black jackets.
The suspects’ vehicle was described as a silver or gray four-door sedan that resembled a Toyota or Honda.
Anyone recognizing the women, or having any other information on the case, was urged to call Detective Phillips at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, (818) 248-3464.
