A 40-year-old woman was killed and a 35-year-old man critically wounded when they were shot while sitting on a park bench in Lennox, authorities said Wednesday.

The shooting occurred in the 10800 block of South Condon Avenue, near Inglewood Avenue and Lennox Boulevard, around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader.

Schrader said the two were sitting together on a park bench when they were approached by a male suspect, who began arguing with them. As the couple walked away, a second male suspect approached. Both then opened fire.

The female victim died of a gunshot wound to the upper body, and the male was struck multiple times in the upper torso, Schrader said.

The suspects left the scene in separate vehicles, a white four-door compact and a green minivan, Schrader said.
