An inmate who escaped from a work project in San Bernardino County was apprehended Tuesday as he was about to enter a spa in Los Angeles, authorities said.
Kent Lesporavsky, 43, was nabbed on Wilshire Boulevard early Sunday morning, six days after he disappeared while working with a crew clearing a flood control channel, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Lesporavsky had been housed at the minimum-security Fenner Canyon Conservation Camp near Valyermo, where he was serving an eight-year, eight- month sentence for transport and sale of marijuana, two counts of evading or attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly and resisting or deterring an officer with the threat of violence, according to the CDCR.
Lesporavsky was due for release in 2019, but now his case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution on escape charges, officials said.
Lesporavsky has also been removed from the conservation camp program and is now in a secure institution, according to the CDCR.
