A rubbish fire burned approximately one acre of brush in Mission Hills Tuesday evening.
The fire broke out at approximately 6:50 p.m. Tuesday near the westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, burning up to an acre of brush and impacting traffic on the freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The LAFD requested assistance from the California Highway Patrol to shut down the stretch of the freeway while fire fighters worked to extinguish the flames.
The fire was initially reported as a rubbish fire, but then considered a brush fire before being knocked down.
No firefighters sustained any injuries while battling the flames, and the cause of what ignited the fire was under investigation.
