A man — possibly wielding a knife — barricaded himself inside a residence for more than eight hours in Carson before he surrendered to a sheriff‘s Special Weapons Team.

The stalemate at 18 Paradise Valley North in the Scottsdale Estate, near the 23400 block of Avalon Boulevard, began about 11 p.m. Saturday and ended just about 7:50 a.m. Sunday, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander.

Sheriff’s officials don’t seem to know how the standoff began. But according to Alexander, the unidentified man, who may have been armed with a knife, will be booked on an assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Deputies from the Special Enforcement Bureau responded to the scene and a crisis negotiation team finally talked the man into peacefully surrendering, according to Alexander.
