Authorities Wednesday sought to identify the driver of a pickup truck who left the scene of a crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Glendora that took the life a 53-year-old motorcyclist.

The victim, a resident of Victorville, has not been identified.

He was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson about 5:10 a.m. Monday in the westbound carpool lane east of Sunflower Avenue when a dark-colored SUV crossed in front of the bike from the far left main lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist lost control of the bike, which went into a slide in the carpool lane. The man was ejected and came to rest in front of a white, extended-cab Toyota Tundra that also had been traveling in the far left main lane, ahead of the motorcycle but behind the SUV, according to the CHP.

The Toyota ran over the victim. Its driver, a man believed to be in his early to mid-30s, stopped and “made contact” with the rider before driving from the scene, the CHP reported.

The motorcyclist was taken to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash closed three westbound freeway lanes until about 6:30 a.m.

The driver being sought is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 160 pounds and wearing an orange shirt, jeans and work boots.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call the CHP Baldwin Park area office at (626) 338-1164 and ask for Officer R. Rodriguez.
