A woman was charged Friday with three counts of murder for the killings of a man, his mother and his stepfather at a home where she had been staying in Leimert Park.
Nancy Amelia Jackson, 55, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on murder charges and a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against Jackson.
The charges stem from the killings Monday of Phillip White, 65; his mother, Orsie Carter, 82; and his stepfather, William Carter, 83, authorities said.
The bodies were discovered around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday inside the home in the 3900 block of South Bronson Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“Without being too vivid, it’s a case where you have three bodies piled on each other in some way,” LAPD Capt. Peter Whittingham said. “… It’s just a sad way to spend your last days or your last breath.”
According to police, all three victims suffered blunt force trauma to the head, while White and his mother had also been shot.
Police initially said they wanted to talk to Jackson, who was described by Deputy District Attorney Victor Avila as an acquaintance of White who had been staying at the house.
She was subsequently arrested May 23 by Los Angeles police and booked early the next morning, according to jail records. She is being held without bail.
