Police are searching Friday for a driver who fled after losing control of a vehicle, shearing a fire hydrant and knocking down a power pole in Valley Village.

It happened around 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 12500 block of Magnolia Boulevard, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Office.

The suspect was last seen running northbound on Corteen Place and is believed to be injured, Eisenman said.

The crash caused the car to flip over and land on another vehicle, reported NBC4. It also brought down power lines on top of the two cars, sparking a fire, according to NBC4.

About 2,000 Department of Water and Power customers are without electricity Friday morning, said Kim Hughes of the DWP. Repair crews are on the scene, but there is no estimated time when power will be restored, she said.
