Authorities Monday released the names of a 59-year-old woman and her year-old granddaughter, who were struck and killed in San Gabriel by a hit-and-run driver who remains at large.

Meiyu Li was pushing a stroller carrying Paisley Chen in a crosswalk when they were struck about 9:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Del Mar Avenue and Live Oak Street, according to San Gabriel police and the coroner’s office.

Paramedics rushed the San Gabriel residents to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, but doctors were unable to save them, police said.

The suspect vehicle was a black or midnight blue Chevrolet S-10 Extreme pickup truck with decals that was last seen heading eastbound on Las Tunas Drive, according to police Lt. Brian Kott. It was previously described by police as being silver.

The truck had an extended cab, chrome rims and tint on the rear window and sustained major front-end collision damage, investigators said. The truck’s Chevy emblem from the front grille was located at the scene of the collision, according to police, who did not release a detailed description of the driver.

San Gabriel police asked anyone who saw the collision to call them at (626) 308-2828.
