Sheriff’s detectives Wednesday circulated surveillance photos in hopes of identifying a man sought for exposing himself to a woman while riding the Metro Green Line in Lynwood last month.
The indecent exposure occurred about 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 10, said sheriff’s Transit Bureau spokesman Ramon Montenegro.
The suspect apparently boarded the train at the Long Beach station and sat across from the unnamed victim.
“Train video shows that the suspect began exposing himself and attempting to get the victim’s attention. The suspect was engaged in the lewd act for many minutes when the victim finally did notice him,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “She stated that she was extremely offended and got up from her seat and moved to another part of the train car. The suspect can be seen making note of where the train car cameras were.”
He got off the train at the Aviation station.
Sheriff’s Detective Karen Velasquez said the suspect’s behavior suggests that he is a serial flasher.
“People like this should not be on the streets or on our transit system,” Velasquez said. “We want to ensure that we get him identified as soon as possible.”
The suspect is described as black, between 25 and 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds, with short black hair, a mustache and a scruffy beard. He was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and carrying a black or dark gray backpack with small white logo.
Anyone with information on the suspect was asked to call either Velasquez or Detective Sgt. Edward O’Neill at (323) 563-5000. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
