Authorities Friday identified a man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in South Los Angeles.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after officers went to 32nd and San Pedro streets on a report of a multi-vehicle crash, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to the LAPD, a man later identified by the coroner’s office as 38-year-old Daniel Hernandez was in the street with an “edged weapon,” and an officer shot him.

Hernandez died at the scene, and the weapon was recovered, police said. No officers were injured. Other details were not released.

Two people were taken to a hospital in stable condition for treatment of injuries suffered in the traffic collision, according to police.
