Police were investigating a shooting reported outside a Venice church Saturday during a fight, but were unable to immediately locate the victim.
A male victim was reportedly struck by gunfire from another male about 4 p.m., during an altercation outside a church at Sixth and Westminster avenues, according to a desk officer in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
The gunman fled in a vehicle, the officer said.
Officers searched the area for the victim and concluded a private party must have taken him to a hospital, according to another desk officer. A call was put out to area hospitals to report any gunshot patients not brought in by paramedics.
