A suspect was barricaded inside a store in Inglewood late Tuesday afternoon following a pursuit that began after he fired at police in South Los Angeles, according to a broadcast report.

A shooting occurred about 4:40 p.m. in the area of South Figueroa Street and Manchester Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

ABC7 reported the suspect fired at police before leading them on a chase that ended at a shopping center at West Imperial Highway and Crenshaw Boulevard. Police did not immediately provide details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Video outside the Inglewood shopping center showed numerous police cruisers surrounding a business where police said the suspect barricaded himself.

A CBS2 helicopter reporter said the suspect may have changed clothes and slipped out of the building, but police could not immediately confirm the report.
