A rattlesnake-bite victim in Desert Center was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment Thursday.

The bite was reported at 11:06 a.m. at the Lake Tamarisk Desert Resort, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The unidentified victim entered the fire department at 43880 Tamarisk Drive, complaining of a snakebite.

Firefighters tended to the victim at the station, then summoned a Reach Air medical helicopter crew, who flew the person to a hospital.

There was no additional word of the victim’s condition nor how he or she was attacked by the snake.

The venom of rattlesnakes can be deadly if not treated within sufficient time.

Desert Center is a small community along Interstate 10 in Riverside County in the desert between Indio and Blythe.
