A teenager accused of killing his own brother in a deadly Compton backyard argument was in custody Tuesday.
The adult brother was shot and killed and family members detained the suspect until law enforcement officers arrived.
The shooting was reported about 5:45 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Corlett Avenue, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“When deputies arrived, they discovered a male Black in his late teens being detained by family members, for apparently shooting his brother in the rear yard of the location following an altercation,” Koerner said.
The teen was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered at the scene, he said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, his name not yet released, the deputy said.
