A pedestrian was fatally stuck by a hit-and-run driver in Norco before the suspect was arrested one city over, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
The accident happened just before 10:40 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Hamner Avenue and Fifth Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro heading south on Hamner Avenue struck a 50-year-old woman who was in the roadway walking east.
Despite life-saving measures by first responders, the woman died at the scene, authorities said.
The driver allegedly fled the scene but was arrested in Corona a short time after.
“At this time, it remains uncertain if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision,” Sgt. Robert Torres said.
The identities of the victim and driver were not disclosed.
