Pomona police took an 18-year-old woman armed with a gun with a silencer into custody after she had barricaded herself inside a motor home behind a frightened family’s home Sunday.
The incident began about 12:30 p.m. when Pomona police received a call saying about a woman armed with a gun in their backyard, police reported. The family said they were afraid she was in their house, so they barricaded themselves in a bedroom.
Police responded to the home and established a perimeter and got the family safely out through a window. Then, they searched the house but the woman was not inside. Instead, she was hiding in a motor home, police said.
The woman, later identified as Saleena Bryant, refused to comply with orders to surrender. She ran from the motor home and tried to climb a fence to escape but police caught her and took her into custody.
Bryant was armed with a handgun equipped with a silencer, police said. A motive for Bryant’s actions was not released by police.
She was being held on $35,000 bail and scheduled to head to court in Pomona on Tuesday, according to jail records.
