A sobriety checkpoint in Moreno Valley netted seven arrests and resulted in more than two dozen citations, authorities said Saturday.

The anti-DUI operation was conducted from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday on Perris Boulevard, just south of Bay Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Robert Grmusha said a total 570 vehicles were screened at the location.

He said two motorists were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, two were arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, one was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs, another arrested on suspicion of being in possession of illegal drugs and a final person was taken into custody for alleged possession of a concealed firearm.

Grmusha said 21 citations were issued for driving without a license, seven were written for unspecified miscellaneous violations, and one ticket was issued for driving with an expired license.

Five vehicles were impounded, according to the sergeant.
