An 89-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Torrance Friday.

Officers responded to the intersection of Anza Avenue and Torrance Boulevard at about 3:50 p.m. Friday to a report of a severe traffic collision, the Torrance Police Department reported.

A 2020 Dodge Charger driven by a 24-year-old man collided with a 2003 Toyota Echo driven by the 89-year-old victim, according to Lt. Ronald Harris.

Harris said the woman was removed from her vehicle by responding officers and immediately given life-saving measures before being taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Charger was not injured.

Harris said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.

Police had the area closed off at Anza Avenue between Torrance Boulevard and Lenore Street for approximately four hours while they continued their investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division at 310-618-5557.
