A fire that erupted Thursday in an outbuilding on the eastern edge of Good Hope destroyed the structure and spread into surrounding vegetation before firefighters contained it.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:45 a.m. in the area of Salter Road and Fox Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
According to the agency, crews sent to the location encountered flames raging in the outbuilding, extending into medium dry grass, moving at a moderate rate.
The smoke column prompted numerous calls to 911, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Crews quickly encircled the fire, fully containing it at 12:08 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The amount of acreage burned was marginal, officials said.
Firefighters were expected to finish mopping up by 1 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
