A barricaded suspect in Lancaster prompted an hours-long standoff with authorities Monday.

Investigators responded to the 700 block of West Avenue H-10 around 12:30 p.m. regarding a barricaded suspect, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The details leading up to the standoff were no immediately known, but as of late afternoon, authorities were continuing efforts to coax the barricaded suspect to surrender.

“Special Enforcement Bureau personnel will assume tactical command and Crisis Negotiation Team will attempt to make contact with the suspect to bring this to a peaceful resolution,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
