Police sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating a hit-and-run suspect who struck and killed a 43-year-old pedestrian in South Los Angeles.
Officers responded to the intersection of 88th Street and Central Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid and continued traveling after hitting the pedestrian, who was walking outside the crosswalk.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and attempted life-saving measures but later pronounced the victim dead at the scene, police said.
The city is offering a standing reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the suspect’s identity, arrest and conviction.
“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a traffic collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene as required by law,” police said in a statement.
