Three Colombian nationals suspected of committing a burglary using hidden camera devices in Temecula were taken into custody, authorities said Wednesday.
Deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team personnel, responded to the 42000 block of Drennon Court on May 9 shortly after 6:40 a.m. regarding a suspicious device, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The Southwest Station Investigation Bureau, along with other local and federal law enforcement agencies, took over the investigation after discovering the suspicious device was not an explosive but contained “improvised video recording components.”
Investigators determined, after extensive investigation, that four suspects conspired and hid recording devices with the intent to commit burglary, sheriff’s officials said.
Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and Southwest Station Investigation Bureau investigators executed a search warrant Tuesday in Los Angeles, where three suspects were taken into custody.
The three suspects were identified by investigators as 28-year-old Hames Lopez-Granados, 38-year-old Dany Alejandro Aponte-Abaunza and 27-year-old Johnathan Sierra-Rincon, all from Colombia.
They were booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of burglary, according to sheriff’s officials.
The investigation continued Wednesday evening into the location of a fourth suspect.
