A 22-year-old man suspected of driving under the influence was taken into custody after a passenger exited his moving vehicle, police said Monday.
Authorities responded to the 300 block of North Pacific Coast Highway shortly before 3:15 a.m. Sunday regarding an injured passenger in his 20s who exited a moving vehicle, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
Paramedics took the passenger to a hospital in critical condition, police said. Two other passengers were not injured.
The driver, a San Pedro resident in his 20s, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
Pacific Coast Highway between Diamond and Carnelian streets was closed Sunday until 7:30 a.m.
