A 21-year-old woman was shot to death in Long Beach, authorities said Saturday, and the gunman is still at large.
The shooting occurred at about 11:40 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Paramedics rushed to her a hospital, where she died from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
“Homicide detectives … determined a male suspect approached the victim inside her residence. The suspect shot the victim, resulting in her death. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to the officer’s arrival,” the LBPD said in a statement.
“Based on preliminary investigation, detectives do not believe this was a random attack,” police added.
The victim was identified as Justice Lopez.
