A man suffered a gunshot wound in Long Beach, but canvassing police officers were unable to locate a crime scene, authorities said Saturday.

Officers dispatched at about 7 p.m. Friday to a reported shooting in the 500 block of West Ninth Street contacted the victim, who was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Paramedics took him to a hospital.

The victim told police that he was walking near the area when an unknown suspect shot him.
