A 47-year-old man who was killed when he was struck by a black pickup on the Los Angeles-Vernon border was identified by county authorities Saturday.
The pedestrian was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office as Hezekiah Rahman, 47.
The crash occurred at 1:35 a.m. Friday near East Vernon Avenue and South Alameda Street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jeff Lee told City News Service.
Rahman was crossing the street when he was struck by the truck, which was southbound on Alameda Street, Lee said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and the pickup driver remained and cooperated with police, Lee said.
Video from the scene showed the pickup on a sidewalk and debris from a broken trash holder strewn on the sidewalk.
The cause of the crash was under investigation, Lee said.
