The 28-year-old man killed in an accident involving heavy machinery at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Granada Hills was identified Thursday.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 14747 San Fernando Road at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A piece of heavy machinery overturned, resulting in the man’s death, the department reported.
He was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Deandre Hall.
According to ABC7, a backhoe apparently fell onto another machine the victim was operating, killing him instantly.
Cal/OSHA was notified and asked to respond to the scene, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said.
