A 29-year -old man is in police custody in connection with a stabbing in North Long Beach and Long Beach police Friday are continuing their investigation of the assault.
The suspect was identified as David James Woods, a Long Beach resident, said the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers responded to the area of Atlantic Avenue and Harding Street at 12:10 .m. Thursday regarding a stabbing. When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body, the police department said. Officers later found Woods, who ran away from police before they arrested him.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the victim to a hospital for treatment.
Woods was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $30,000 and the investigation is ongoing, the police department said.
