A 66-year-old man who died when he fell off the side of the Mount Wilson Trail in Sierra Madre was identified by county authorities Tuesday.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office, determined the victim was John McIntyre.

The fall was reported at about 2 p.m. Saturday, according to the Sierra Madre Police Department.

The victim, McIntryre, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police shut down the trail Saturday while officers and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue responded. Search and Rescue teams were used to locate and access McIntyrer due to rugged terrain, police said.
