25 Finalists Chosen for 2020 Tournament of Roses Royal Court

Twenty-five young ladies were introduced Tuesday as finalists to become members of the 2020 Tournament of Roses Royal Court, which will take part in a host of events leading up to the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game.

From the 25 finalists, seven will be chosen on Sept. 30 to join the Royal Court. One of those seven will then be named the Rose Queen.

Members of the Royal Court are chosen based on criteria including public speaking ability, academic achievement, youth leadership, and community and school involvement. Each member of the court receives a $7,500 educational scholarship.

The 25 finalists are:

— Lailah Batchelder, Blair High School;

— Carly Witteman, La Canada High School;

— Janelle Johnson, John Marshall Fundamental High School;

— Rukan Saif, Arcadia High School;

— Siena Dancsecs, La Canada High School;
