Los Angeles area officials announced several closures and voluntary evacuations Tuesday as wildfires belched smoke and ash into the region’s skies.

City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez says the Los Angeles Equestrian Center has reached capacity and can no longer accept any large animals being evacuated due to the Creek Fire. Large animals can be taken to Pierce College in Woodland Hills.

The Los Angeles Mission College’s Main Campus at 13356 Eldridge Ave. and the East Campus at 12890 Harding Street will be closed Tuesday. Both are in Sylmar. The Sunland-Tujunga Canpus at 7224 Foothill Blvd. in Tujunga will remain open.

Because of the Creek Fire, a voluntary evacuation is taking place involving about 100 patients at Mountain View Convalescent Center in the 13000 block of Fenton Avenue in Sylmar, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. There are no reported injuries.

The Getty Center is closed to the public Tuesday “to protect the collections from smoke from fires in the region,” according to Getty officials. The Villa in Pacific Palisades is also closed to the public Tuesday, per its normal schedule.
