From a singing Joker to a big-screen videogame adaptation to a passion project by a legendary director, nominations were unveiled Tuesday for the 45th Razzie Awards, which annually call out what organizers deem to be the worst films and performances of the past year.
Nominated for the dreaded title of worst picture were “Borderlands,” “Joker: Folie a Deux,” “Madame Web,” “Megalopolis” and “Reagan.”
“Joker” collected a leading seven nominations.
“Actors nominated for less-than-stellar turns in 2024 include Oscar winners Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga and one of Trump’s newly appointed `Ambassadors to Hollywood,’ Jon Voight, who has a near-record four 2024 titles listed behind his name as worst supporting actor,” Razzie organizers said in a statement.
According to organizers, Razzie nominations are voted upon by roughly 1,200 Razzie members — described as movie buffs, film critics and journalists — from 49 states and two dozen foreign countries.
The Razzie nominations are traditionally announced just ahead of Oscar nominations, which are set to be revealed Thursday morning. Razzie winners will be announced March 1, the day before the Oscar ceremony.
